I had a really great time at Tucker- the hours were about 9 to 5 everyday with call night about once a week which is a full 24 hr shift from 7am to 7am the next day. I cannot say enough about how great Dr Arshad is- he explained everything that was going on with each patient as well as teaching me the high points and clinically relevant points on a lot of the subjects we need to know. He asks a lot of questions but you dont ever feel like you are being pimped or put on the spot- and he really loves it when you ask him questions. You will feel very comfortable there because Dr Arshad and all the office staff are probably the sweetest people I have ever met. you will spend a week at a maternal fetal medicine clinic where you mostly just observe and a week at a GYN oncologists office which was sad but a good experience because it gives you an insight into a different side of obgyn. the only part of the rotation that wasnt so good was the commute- tucker is exit 38 on I 285 and Dr Arshads other office which you go to 3 to 4 times a week is exit 58 by the atl airport so the commute can be a little rough at times but I definitely thought it was worth sitting through because of the great experience I had there- hope you guys have a great time there too!

I had a great time in Tucker learning at Dr. Arshad's practice. Dr. Arshad is very generous with his time, and takes a lot of time to discuss common OB/GYN problems with the student -- getting to interact directly with a practicing physician this much is a very rare thing in medical school, especially if you stay in Augusta for most of your rotations. I had my eyes opened to how cool it is to deliver babies ;D - I got to go to and participate in several vaginal deliveries and several Cesarian sections every call day. This was my favorite rotation of 3rd year.

Just to add a little bit more: Be prepared to spend a lot more time at the Forest Park office (about 35-40 minutes from perimeter mall for you Northside ATL folks) than at the Tucker office (10 minutes). I sometimes had a difficult time "recruiting" patients for physical exam, so be prepared to be persistent if you want to do a lot of GYN exams. I was second assistant for Dr. Arshad's scheduled tuesday afternoon surgeries, as well as first assistant for any C-sections we performed while on call. It was a great first rotation because I got lots of surgical experience, personally performed 3 deliveries with guidance from Dr. Arshad, got lots of office experience, got to do rounds and write progress notes in a low-stress environment, etc. All in all, it was a lot better than I expected my OB/GYN rotation to be.
