This was posted by Carolina from the Class of 2006 Forum.
Start each morning around 8 am, grand rounds run all morning- usually from 8:30-11:30ish: basically, patients are discussed and brought into the room one at a time while the attending interviews/ask questions, etc. In the afternoon, the first two weeks is mainly lectures from 1:00-4:00/4:30. When no afternoon lecture is scheduled, you just help out the residents and interns with discharges, interviews, etc. On call- approx 3-4 times out of the whole 6 weeks. People have been called in for varing amounts of time. Any other questions? just ask =)

This is a great rotation. 50% of your grade is from evaluations from the attendings, etc; 15% from untimed quizzes online; 35% from the exam. You do 5 out of your six weeks at the adult or geri inpatient site (3South) and 1 week at the ped site (9north). Arrive on site at around 8 am. Check all labs and record them into charts. Then round at 8:30 with treatment team. When that finishes (around 10:30), you do what needs to be done for your patients such as write soap notes that your resident asked you to do, fill out discharges, etc. You finish this at about 1 or so. You can go home after that except for one day a week you are the "late" man and you leave at about 4:30. After 1 during the first few weeks, you have a bunch of lectures till 4. 3 total days of oncall. All are at home oncall. One of the three is a 24 hour weekend call; rest are 5pm-8 am the next morn. Most people did not get called in. Real nice people. No pimping.

to anyone who has been on adult psych,
are you expected to work on the weekends? And, if so, how many days are you supposed to get off per week?
Thanks, trying to plan ahead.
Take care, Rob

You don't have to come in on the weekends on 3S. All calls are from home. I never got called in out of my 1 weekend call and 1 weekday call.
