I did this service 7/16 - 7/27.
This service varies greatly from 1-2 patients up to 15 or more patients. Obviously your duties will vary depending on the number of patients and number of surgeries. Every day there were usually 3 surgeries and I'd get to scrub on 2-3 surgeries per week. Rounds were usually at 7am with the chief resident so you would pre-round on the general 3W floor patients and then present those to the residents as they pre-rounded on the 3W ICU bed patients. Usually, this means you get there 6-6:15.
On the weekend, I came in and rounded one of the days, another student on the other weekend day. Then, we were done for the day. Fridays are protected for conference so there are no cases unless they are emergencies. After conference ends at about 2, you are free to leave.
