I thought that this would be a great rotation for fourth year. After all, I have been told by many residents and faculty that you should really enjoy fourth year and not burn yourself out. It is these happy memories that get you through your intern year. I was also interested in becoming more comfortable with EKG's and cardiac emergencies.
I have found that this rotation is very dependent on the atttending, fellow, and the resident. Our resident is GREAT and teaches a lot; however, we spend a large amount of time in the library waiting for something to do but unable to be released off campus. There is no call and no weekends, but we have had to come in at 4:30am at times. We also have left around 7pm on a regular basis. This, again, is very attending specific.
I would not recommend this rotation since I feel that I have learned more on other rotations and have spent the last four weeks reading in the library. I did not need a rotation to make me do that.
