I was originally signed up to do my sub-I at the VA, but was switched to MCG since the VA lost its inpatient service and no longer takes sub-i's. The MCG Neuro service is pretty busy, and it just depends on how many students/residents are on service. I was on with 2 residents and 2 other 3rd years.
Hours are OK, pre-rounding around 6:30 and leaving by 5:30 or so. You are expected to go to morning report with the other residents at 7:30AM, so you must see your patients before. I carried 4-5 patients, most being ICU patients (mostly hemorrhages and stroke patients). As you probably know already, these are very sick patients. But you usually have down time throughout the day. I got to do a few LPs and a-lines. Overall a good experience for anyone whether or not you are pursuing Neurology.
Oh yeah, I got one weekend day off a week, and NO CALL!
