I stayed at the Days Inn Inner Harbor, the recommended hotel that I was given. $99/night at the "discounted" rate. Seemed steep for a Days Inn, but this place was nice. It was clean and quiet, bed was really comfy. Free wireless internet, as well as a business center downstairs with 2 computers and printers. I didnt bring my laptop so this was helpful to check my email, and print my boarding pass for my flight back home. This was walking distance of the school (about 4 blocks). Also there is a really good little Kabob place to eat a few blocks down from the hotel (opposite direction of the school). When I went for my interview, I just checked my bags at the front desk, and came back for them afterwards so I didnt have to rent another night, and didnt have to drag them with me. No need to rent a car, since its walking distance. I used the Supershuttle to and from the airport (BWI). $13 one way or $22 round trip. Way cheaper than a $27 cab ride each way. check out supershuttle.com. U of Maryland is a nice place from what I could tell. New or renovated facilities, new OR, lots of cool little places to eat inside the hospital besides the cafeteria. Huge Trauma Wing associated with the University Hospital which is more private practice, so there seems to be a good mix of patients. I would say its worth checking out, depending on your specialty of choice.
