This is a great idea. I think that this can be helpful. Thanx! Feel free to elaborate below regarding your preparation for the OBGYN shelf. Here is a thread on this topic from another forum. SDN OBGYN Shelf Thread

For what its worth, I thought that the High Yield OB book was very good, and something that you can get through in the last couple of days of the rotation. It has a lot of diagrams and tables, which I seem to have a fetish for...admitting it is the first step...

Two words..........CASE FILES.
This book is a great review for the shelf. I used this along with the Kaplan Step 2 Notes, but I thought case files was an excellent review. It basically gives 60 of the most common cases in OBGYN, and goes through the work-up of it. I read through this book once during the clerkship, then flipped through it again the day before the shelf. I thought the sections on REI were especially excellent. Granted there are some random things on the shelf, this is something that is high yield, and you can get through quickly.
The shelf wasn't too painful, but this was my last shelf (I took this rotation during 4th year, long story....my mom became ill last year and had to take the rotation off). I had heard that there was alot of GYN and breast on other people's shelfs. But on mine, I had maybe 3 breast questions, and some GYN. I felt like the majority was OB, and they were all bleeding in some shape, form, or fashion. Also, I had about 10 questions on urinary incontinence, so know that stuff. STDs, vaginitis, amenorrhea are other high yield GYN stuff. Know your fetal heart tracings, there was at least 3-4 on mine.
